Roses are a type of perennial flower and plant known for their incredibly beautiful blooms, their wonderful smell, and their sharp thorns that are arranged up and down their stems.  Roses are probably the best known flowers, and are certainly the most pervasive in popular culture.  Roses are very popular in gardening, but are known for being difficult plants to control.  They tend to get hit with diseases a lot, and require a significant amount of maintenance

The late Rev.Arnorld Paynter (Director of the indian Christian mission) laid the Foundation of Paynter memorial school and the school was registered and officially opened in 1931.At the beginning school hours were from 8.00 a.m to 12 .00 p.m. Most of the practical subjects were done after school. Boys were taught carpentry while the girls learned to cook and sew. Scouting too had been started. The school made a good progress in all the extra- curricular activities.
Although the school was originally meant for children of mixed European and Ceylonese parents, later day students were admitted and it was made a high school to enter the children for the senior school learning certificate in 1946.The first O/L class in the school was in 1948 and the school had around 50 children. In 1955 the name of the school was change to paynter memorial school. At the end of 1959 there were 152 children. The school was taken over by the government in1960.
A junior Red Cross Society was formed in the school.A Parent TeacherA ssociation and a Past-Pupils Association was formed too.By that time there had been Girl guides, Scouts, Little friends actively, taking part in their due activities at school. There after the students took part in school competitions and won places.

In 1969 the school got all the 1 st places in the English stream at the Regional English Day. Children took part in the All Island English Contest and they got five third places and one 1st place in group singing. After a period of twelve years since the take over of the school by the state, a Prize Giving Day was held in 1973. The chief guest was Mr. J.W. Daniel, representative of the British Council.
In 1974 Kandyan dancing was introduced as a subject four aesthetic studies. Grade 1,2,3 and 4 were worked in the Sinhala stream. In 1979 there were 17 teachers on the staff and the school was given both a western and eastern band by the Education Department.

Since then the school has made a good progress in curricular and non curricular activities. New buildings and many other facilities have been provided by the government. The newly built IT unit, the library, the science unit contribute in a great deal in achieving the goals of the modern education policies. Under the administration of the principal Mr. K.A.L Ranasinghe. The present staff consists 39 teachers .The medium of instruction has become Sinhala and G.C.E (A/L) classes are held in arts and commerce streams.. Nuwara Eliya history

cawpy5ncThe town was founded by Samuel Baker as a hill retreat for the British during the colonial era, where typical English pastimes including golf, fox hunting, polo and cricket were played.

Although the town was founded in the 19th century by Englishmen, the site was frequently visited by native Sinhalese travellers. It has also been an area of pre-historic human beings as recent archaeological findings confirm.

Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period, and even new hotels are often built and furnished in the colonial style. The Hill Club is one of the best preserved hotels, and charges admission for non-residents who wish to wallow in its nostalgia. Many private homes still maintain their old English-style lawns and gardens.
